ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet Division has submitted a summary to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat on Tuesday, suggesting dates for the Eidul Adha holidays.

According to sources, the federal government has approved a three-day holiday for Eidul Adha from June 17 to June 19. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has endorsed the summary presented by the Cabinet Division, the sources confirmed.

Pakistan will observe Eidul Adha on June 17, following the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon on June 7. Eidul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the two major Eid festivals celebrated by Muslims to honor Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son for God.

This festival is traditionally marked by the slaughter of animals, with the meat distributed among family members and the poor.

The observance of Eidul Adha includes the ritual slaughter of sacrificial animals, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s tradition, and this practice spans the three days of Eid.
