Karachi Heat Wave: Karachi is experiencing another intense heatwave, with temperatures reaching 41 degrees Celsius. This has caused a sharp rise in heat-related illnesses, with over 70 people being admitted to Civil and Jinnah Hospitals in the past four days.

Heatwave Impact on Residents

The current heatwave is severely impacting Karachi, especially the elderly and those with health issues. Civil Hospital reported that 67 people affected by the heat came to their emergency department. Dr. Nizam, the Assistant Medical Superintendent, said most patients were sent home after they felt better, but three had to stay in the hospital. Luckily, none of the cases were heatstroke.

Jinnah Hospital has also been dealing with the heatwave’s impact, with 12 patients admitted over the last four days and three brought in today alone. The Emergency Incharge at Jinnah Hospital confirmed that their heatstroke ward is fully operational to manage the influx of patients.

Weather Forecast and Precautions

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has warned that Karachi will face a partial heatwave for the next two days due to changing wind patterns, which are making the heat feel worse. However, temperatures are expected to drop after these two days. Furthermore, the monsoon season is expected to start in the first week of July, bringing relief from the intense heat.
