Lahore and its neighbouring regions were battered by ferocious winds and thunderstorms last evening, causing widespread devastation and claiming multiple lives. The powerful winds wreaked havoc, leading to collapsed structures and tragic accidents.

In Lahore, four individuals lost their lives and 14 others sustained injuries as trees toppled over onto unsuspecting victims.

The storm’s impact was particularly severe in Patoki, where two children tragically perished and a dozen more individuals were injured as roofs, walls, and even solar panels were ripped apart by the relentless gusts.

Specific incidents underscored the severity of the storm. From motorcyclists being injured by falling trees to fatalities resulting from collapsed walls during house construction, the toll of the disaster was profound and tragic.

Traffic and infrastructure bore the brunt of the storm’s fury. Fallen trees obstructed roads, causing disruptions along the Patoki National Highway, while similar chaos unfolded in Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib.

The meteorological department recorded wind speeds in Lahore peaking at a historic 115 kilometers per hour, providing some respite from the sweltering heat with scattered rainfall across the region.

Despite the relief brought by cooler temperatures, the aftermath of the storm paints a grim picture. Efforts are underway to restore normalcy and mend the extensive damage inflicted on the affected areas.

Residents are advised to exercise caution and prioritize safety measures in the face of such extreme weather events.

As Lahore and its surroundings reel from the aftermath of this devastating storm, the resilience of communities shines through as they come together to rebuild and recover from this natural disaster.
