A Hajj flight operated by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), designated PK 839, was compelled to land unexpectedly in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on a late Friday evening after a warning of high temperature.

The flight, however resumed its journey to Jeddah after the examination on Saturday.

Departing from Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport at 10pm the previous day, the flight was originally bound for Jeddah but had to be rerouted to Riyadh due to an emergency.

A passenger on the flight told the media that a load noise was heard during the journey which became the reason for the diversion an emergency landing in Riyadh.

the travelers were escorted off the Boeing 777 and accommodated in the airport lounge in Riyadh.

According to a PIA official, the pilot decided to land after receiving an alert of high temperatures in the cargo area. However, subsequent inspections revealed the alert to be erroneous, and the plane was cleared to continue to Jeddah after a brief examination.

The aviation sector has been in the spotlight due to several recent incidents raising safety concerns among passengers.

For instance, severe turbulence impacted a Singapore Airlines flight on May 21, resulting in one fatality due to a presumed heart attack and injuries to 30 individuals. The incident caused the aircraft to make an unscheduled landing in Bangkok.

In a similar event, turbulence injured 12 passengers on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Ireland, as confirmed by Dublin Airport on May 26. The flight, QR017, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, touched down safely and on time around 1pm local time in Dublin.

These consecutive events, including the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the life of Iran’s former president Ebrahim Raisi, have prompted researchers to link the rise in flight turbulence to climate change effects.
