Weather Update; Isolated rains expected in Lahore, Punjab

Isolated rain-wind/thunderstorms are anticipated in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Thursday night and Friday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air is dominant over most regions of Pakistan, while a shallow westerly system prevails over the northern parts of the country.

Under the current weather conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in isolated areas including Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Talagang, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Lahore, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Wazirabad, Sialkot, Narowal, and Gujranwala on Thursday night and Friday. Additionally, windstorm/thunderstorm-rains may occur in Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa, Layyah, and Rajanpur. Hot and dry weather is anticipated in the rest of the province.

In Lahore, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 43-45°C on Friday and 42-44°C on Saturday. Over the past 24 hours, hot and dry conditions prevailed in Lahore and most of the province, with extremely hot weather in the southern and central regions. Light rain or drizzle occurred in isolated parts of the Potohar region.

Bhakkar and Noorpur Thal were the hottest locations in the province, recording maximum temperatures of 49°C. In Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Jhang, Jhelum, Okara, and Narowal, the maximum temperature reached 46°C. In Lahore, the maximum temperature was 44°C, with evening relative humidity at 23 percent.
