A similar incident occurred in May when local journalist Nasrullah Gadani, who was seriously injured in a gun attack, succumbed to his wounds at a hospital in Karachi.

Gadani was attacked near Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki district, while traveling from his home to the Mirpur Mathelo Press Club. Armed men in a car opened fire at him on Jarwar Road near Deen Shah and fled the scene.

Gadani sustained serious injuries and was initially taken to Mirpur Mathelo DHQ hospital for treatment before being transferred to Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan, for surgery.

He was later moved to Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi, where he passed away on Friday morning.

Local journalists noted that Gadani, who worked for a Sindhi newspaper and shared his reports on social media, was known for his bold journalism, often reporting against local feudal lords, political figures, waderas, and government officials.
