Weather update; isolated rains likely in Lahore, Punjab

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts varying intensities of rain and gusty winds in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa starting Wednesday night, continuing over the next two days with occasional breaks.

Strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are expected to enter the upper parts of Pakistan tonight, impacting central and southern regions from August 2. Additionally, a westerly wave will influence the upper parts of the country from tonight.

As a result, areas like Peshawar, Swat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Buner, Kurram, and Waziristan are likely to experience rain and gusty winds on Wednesday night.

On Thursday and Friday, intermittent rains and gusty winds are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Buner, Bajaur, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Peshawar, Kurram, Kohat, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan.

During this period, Peshawar’s maximum temperature is likely to remain between 30-32°C. Meanwhile, most districts of the province experienced hot and humid weather over the past 24 hours, with isolated rain and wind/thundershowers in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Bannu endured the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C. In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 32°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 85 percent.
