Weather update; Isolated rainfall expected in Islamabad, Pakistan

More rains and gusty winds are expected in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday night and Wednesday, coinciding with Ashura days.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), light to moderate monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are penetrating central and upper parts of Pakistan. Additionally, a westerly wave is affecting the upper regions of the country.

Under these conditions, rains and gusty winds are anticipated in isolated areas including Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Batgram, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Mardan, Peshawar, Kurram, Bannu, Kohat, Kirk, and Waziristan on Tuesday night and Wednesday, with occasional intervals. Elsewhere in the province, hot and humid weather is expected.

Peshawar’s maximum temperature is expected to be between 36-38°C on Wednesday and 35-37°C on Thursday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in isolated areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Rainfall (mm): Dir (Upper 07, Lower  03), Bacha Khan Airport 06, Mirkhani 05, Peshawar, Saidu Sharif  02, Cherat, Malam Jabba, Takht Bai 01

Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C.

In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 37 percent.
