Muharram 2024: Peoples Bus Service suspended on these routes in Karachi
In Karachi, the Peoples Bus Service has announced the suspension of its operations on several routes during the 9th and 10th days of Muharram in Sindh province.
According to the announcement, all Peoples Bus Service routes across Karachi will cease operations, with the exception of the route running from Malir Halt to Super Highway during these specific days.
Karachi Traffic Police have released a traffic plan for Muharram 8, 9, and 10, corresponding to July 15, 16, and 17 (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday), aimed at ensuring smooth movement of Ashura processions. The main procession of Muharram will commence from Nishtar Park, following designated routes and concluding at the Hussainia Iranian Imambargah.
On Muharram 9 (Tuesday), another procession will start from Martin Road Imambargah in Liaquatabad at 9 am, reaching Nishtar Park by 12 pm, where a Majlis will be held. During this period, M.A. Jinnah Road will be closed from Guru Mandir to Tower. Alternative routes have been designated: commuters from Nazimabad can access Nishtar Road via Lasbela Chowk through Garden, while those traveling from Liaquatabad via Lasbela Chowk will be diverted towards Central Jail from Teen Hatti.
To reach PP Chowrangi from Hasan Square, vehicles are advised to take Kashmir Road to Society Light Signal (Quaidin Highway) and use the Jail Flyover route. These measures are put in place to facilitate traffic flow and ensure public safety during the religious observances of Muharram in Karachi.
