Tomato prices are surging across various cities in Pakistan, hitting 400 to 450 rupees per kilogram.

The local newspaper Nawa-i-Waqt reports that in Badin, Sindh, tomatoes are selling for 400 rupees per kilogram, while in nearby villages, the price is up to 450 rupees per kilogram. Farmers have noted that tomato crops are currently being planted in the district, and local tomatoes will enter the market in about two months. They anticipate that prices will decrease once local tomatoes are available.

In Quetta, the price of tomatoes has risen by an additional 50 rupees, from 200 to 250 rupees per kilogram.

In Turbat, Balochistan, prices have increased by 100 rupees, surpassing 400 rupees per kilogram. Similarly, in the Sindh cities of Jamshoro and Mirpurkhas, tomatoes are being sold for up to 400 rupees per kilogram.

Meanwhile, the President of the Mirpurkhas Vegetable Market Association has announced that tomatoes from Iran are expected to arrive soon, which should help lower prices.
