Election Tribunal disqualifies Balochistan Home Minister Langove
QUETTA: The Election Tribunal has disqualified Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Langove, ruling him ineligible to hold public office.
The tribunal’s decision followed a petition by Mir Saeed Langove, accusing Mir Zia Langove of electoral fraud. As a result, the tribunal ordered re-polling at seven polling stations in Mir Zia Langove’s constituency due to identified irregularities. Consequently, Mir Zia Langove has been removed from his position as the Home Minister of Balochistan.
In a related case, Jamhoori Watan Party’s Gohram Bugti challenged Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti’s election victory in the tribunal.
Gohram Bugti’s petition argued that Sarfaraz Bugti, as a member of the caretaker cabinet, should not have been allowed to contest the election from the Balochistan Assembly’s constituency PB-10 (Dera Bugti).
The petition claims Sarfaraz Bugti influenced the election by appointing his preferred polling staff, resigning from the cabinet, and then running in the election. It also questions the legitimacy of the election results, citing unusually high voting percentages. Gohram Bugti has requested the tribunal to verify voters’ thumbprints and declare the PB-10 seat vacant, calling for a by-election in the constituency.
