KARACHI: Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah announced that the provision of free solar panels will commence by August.

During a meeting on the free solar supply project, Shah emphasized the need to expedite efforts to ensure the supply of solar panels to needy individuals by the end of August.

“We will soon begin distributing solar panels across each division and district,” he stated.

Shah highlighted that the Sindh government aims to provide relief through affordable electricity. “The solarization process is a way to offer cheap electricity to the people,” he explained.

The energy minister pointed out that high electricity costs have surpassed people’s purchasing power, causing hardship across the province due to inflated electricity bills.

On the directives of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, Shah stressed that transparency in the project must be ensured. He noted that people across Sindh will benefit from alternative energy sources.

Earlier, on August 3, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori announced the provision of free solar panels to residents using up to 300 units of electricity.

Governor Tessori mentioned that 9,000 solar panels have been ordered for the project’s first phase. These panels will be distributed at no cost, allowing recipients to use up to 300 units of electricity through solar power.

The installation and supply of these panels will also be free, aiming to alleviate the burden of load shedding for many households.
