Rains expected in upper parts of Islamabad, Pakistan
If you are living in Lahore, get ready for another monsoon rain starting from August 26 as several regions are predicted to experience downpours.
The temperature in a city with over 11 million residents is expected to drop slightly, accompanied by high humidity, with winds blowing from the southwest.
According to the latest advisory from the Met Office, the upcoming rains could result in urban flooding in low-lying areas across several regions.
For the next 24 hours, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts primarily hot and humid weather conditions in most districts of the province.
However, there is also a possibility of isolated showers in Lahore, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, Sargodha, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, D.G. Khan, and Rahim Yar Khan.
Flood warning issued amid heavy rain forecast
A low-pressure system is expected to reach the southern regions of the country tonight. As a result, strong monsoon currents are anticipated to enter the country, particularly in the southern areas, starting from August 25.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning about heavy rainfall and potential flooding in Sindh and Punjab from August 26 to 29.
Flash floods could occur in local streams and hill torrents, while coastal flooding might impact the Makran coast and low-lying areas in Sindh. The NDMA has urged both authorities and the public to prepare for these conditions and to follow guidance from local officials. This warning follows Met Office predictions of heavy rain and strong winds.
