The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that monsoon rains will start today, Friday, August 9, and continue through Monday, August 12.

This rainfall will impact various regions across the country, including Karachi, which will experience intermittent showers.

From August 9 to 11, Sindh will see rain accompanied by wind and thundershowers, affecting areas such as Mithi, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, and Karachi. Strong winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal will intensify these weather conditions.

In Punjab, rain and thundershowers are forecasted from August 9 to 12, with major cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Faisalabad expecting wet weather.

Southern Punjab, including Bahawalpur and Multan, will encounter scattered heavy showers on the evenings of August 10 and 11.

Heavy showers are anticipated in Bahawalpur, Multan, and surrounding areas on the evening of August 10 and the night of August 11.

Additionally, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan will experience more rain and thundershowers. This monsoon season is expected to be wetter than usual, highlighting Pakistan’s increased vulnerability to extreme weather due to climate change.
