The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has declared that on August 4, a 12-hour interruption in gas service is scheduled for several districts in Karachi. This interruption is a strategic move to upgrade the gas infrastructure and boost the gas pressure for the city’s consumers.

SSGC’s announcement indicates that this action is designed to provide a more consistent and effective gas supply to industrial, commercial, and residential users. A new transmission pipeline, measuring 20 inches in diameter and 12.5 kilometers in length, is set to be incorporated into the current system. This infrastructure enhancement is anticipated to improve the gas distribution network significantly, resolving low pressure issues and guaranteeing a more dependable gas supply.

The integration of this pipeline necessitates a temporary halt of gas delivery in various regions from 8 AM to 8 PM on the specified date, which is a Sunday. During this period, the specified areas will not have any gas supply.

The outage will affect prominent residential and industrial areas, including sectors and neighborhoods like Korangi Sector 21, 28, 29, G-36, B-36, 37-A Hashim Goth, Mansehra Colony, Allahabad Goth, among others.

Both industrial and residential sectors will be impacted by this service disruption. SSGC recommends that customers prepare for this event and arrange alternatives to mitigate the effects of this short-term outage. The company emphasizes that this upgrade is crucial for the long-term improvement and reliability of the gas services in the area.
