Karachi woke up to light rain this morning, hinting at a cloudy day ahead. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts more drizzle and light rain in the city within the next 24 hours.

Morning temperatures were recorded at 28°C, with highs expected between 30°C and 32°C. Moderate winds from the west are blowing at 13 kilometers per hour, and the humidity has risen to 85%. Light rain is also anticipated in other parts of Sindh, including Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin.

The weather outlook is not limited to Sindh. Rain is expected across various regions of Pakistan, including Islamabad.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz indicated that monsoon winds are likely to reach lower Sindh by August 16, bringing rain to Karachi between August 17 and 19.

He cautioned that moderate rain, with occasional thunderstorms, could lead to heavy downpours in some areas of the city.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued alerts for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, warning of potential urban flooding until August 18. Areas like Hazara, Malakand, Peshawar, and Waziristan are on high alert as heavy rain is expected.

The recent monsoon spell has already claimed 178 lives, including 92 children, since July, mainly due to collapsing homes. Authorities remain vigilant as more rain is on the way.
