Punjab reports 79 new dengue cases

The dengue outbreak in Rawalpindi has reached critical levels, with 96 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours, bringing the city’s total to 3,368 cases.

According to the Health Department, the virus has claimed 11 lives so far, with 4,537 dengue-related cases reported due to the presence of dengue larvae in various areas. In response, authorities have sealed 1,716 buildings to help contain the virus’s spread.

A fine of Rs 19.85 million has been imposed on properties where dengue larvae were found. The Deputy Commissioner has declared a dengue emergency across the district, noting that patients are being affected by a more dangerous strain of the virus.

To tackle the crisis, emergency dengue counters have been established in hospitals, and mobile teams are actively working to eliminate dengue mosquitoes and control the outbreak.
