LAHORE: Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman announced on Thursday that the party plans to challenge the recently passed 26th Constitutional Amendment in court.

Speaking to the media during a tree plantation campaign in Lahore, Hafiz Naeem criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), suggesting that the party has been caught in a dilemma over the amendment.

He questioned why the PTI chose not to vote on the amendment despite having reached an agreement with Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Expressing support for the lawyers’ movement, Hafiz Naeem reiterated that the JI will take the amendment to court, condemning the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for undermining the judicial system.

Additionally, he raised concerns about PTI’s actions, questioning why they nominated candidates for the committee if they had no intention of participating.
