LAHORE: The alleged rape case at Punjab College has stirred controversy after the supposed victim’s father denied that any such incident took place.

In a video statement, he refuted the rape allegations, stating that his daughter’s name was being misused for social media propaganda, which he found distressing. He explained that his daughter had sustained a spinal injury from a fall and that medical reports had been shared with the police.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sheherbano Naqvi emphasized the need for credible evidence before filing an FIR and cautioned against spreading false information.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz established a high-level committee to investigate the alleged rape of a female student at a private college.

According to an official notification, the six-member committee will be led by the Punjab chief secretary, with members including the home secretary, advocate general Punjab, secretary of higher education, and secretary of specialized healthcare.

The committee is empowered to add more members if required and will gather evidence, interview students, teachers, and the college administration, assess the response of the administration, and evaluate the role of the police and other factors related to the incident.
