A significant gas deposit has been found in Sindh’s Khairpur district, specifically in the Savon South Block. The new wells are expected to produce an impressive daily output of one crore standard cubic feet of gas.

The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced the discovery in a letter to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, emphasizing its potential to strengthen the country’s energy security and boost gas reserves amid increasing energy demand.

The letter also mentioned that both provincial and federal entities hold a 2.5% stake each in the project. Experts say that this addition to the gas supply is crucial for addressing the country’s energy crisis, which has worsened due to rising consumption and volatile global energy prices.
