The Punjab government has imposed a two-day ban under Section 144 due to increased security threats, effective from Friday, October 18, to Saturday, October 19. The ban restricts all protests, processions, and public events during this time.

According to a notification from the Punjab Home Department, the decision was made to prevent possible terrorist attacks on public gatherings, ensuring law and order and protecting lives and property.

Public safety is the main concern behind these precautionary measures. Earlier, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) called for a nationwide protest on Friday, October 18, urging people to rally for the release of the party’s founder, leaders, and workers.

The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, announced protests in every district and city, calling for action against what he described as unconstitutional amendments. He warned that remaining silent now could harm future generations and urged the public to raise their voices for their rights and the future of their children.
