ISLAMABAD: A high-level meeting of the apex committee on the National Action Plan for counterterrorism is being held under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The session is attended by senior military and civil officials, relevant federal ministers, provincial chief ministers, and heads of intelligence agencies.

The committee conducted a comprehensive review of the country’s law and order situation and assessed the implementation of the National Action Plan. Discussions are focused on enhancing coordination between the federal government and provinces and improving intelligence-sharing mechanisms.

The meeting also analyzed the rising wave of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, exploring its underlying causes. Decisions aimed at strengthening internal security are anticipated during the session. Participants were earlier briefed on the outcomes of intelligence-based operations conducted across the country.
