Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has called for a national dialogue to address the ongoing political crisis as tensions escalate between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government.

PTI convoys from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), currently in Punjab, are marching towards Islamabad to demand the release of their party founder, Imran Khan, among other grievances. In response, the government has placed containers around the capital, disrupting life in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several cities in Punjab.

JI’s senior leader, Liaqat Baloch, has expressed concern over the persistent political turmoil, stating that it is alienating the public from political engagement. Criticizing both the coalition government and opposition parties, Baloch remarked that their governance and protest strategies have failed to gain public trust.

“The ineffective methods of both sides have disillusioned the people, driving them away from politics,” he said. He further argued that the opposition’s protests are intensifying economic problems and urged the government to prioritize political solutions over complaints about economic damage.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb highlighted the economic toll of the protests, estimating daily losses of Rs190 billion due to road closures and shutdowns caused by opposition activities.

Addressing the deteriorating security in KP, Baloch called for urgent action to establish peace in Parachinar, a region plagued by rising violence. His appeal follows recent tribal clashes in Kurram district, which have left scores dead and many injured.

The latest violence erupted last Thursday when gunmen attacked civilian convoys, killing at least 44 people. Since then, the death toll in the district has risen to over 70, with many more wounded in the ongoing conflict.
