Polling underway for by-elections in 18 districts of Sindh

Polling is underway for by-elections in 18 districts of Sindh, including Karachi.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, polling began at 8 AM and will continue without a break until 5 PM.

In Karachi, by-elections are taking place for 4 chairman positions, 2 vice-chairman positions, and 4 ward councilor seats.

In District South, UC 13 Saddar Clifton Kehkashan, 7 candidates are competing for the chairman position, while in District Central, UC 5 Gulberg, 6 candidates are vying for the vice-chairman position.

In District Central, UC 7 Liaquatabad, 8 candidates are in the race for the chairman position, and in District Keamari, UC 10 Baldia, 5 candidates are competing for the election of General Ward Number 4.

Additionally, in District Malir UC 9, 5 candidates are competing for the chairman position, in District Malir UC 7 Ibrahim Hyderi, 5 candidates are vying for the election of General Ward Number 4, and in District West UC 5 Manghopir, 5 candidates are competing for the election of General Ward Number 4.

In District Korangi UC 7 Korangi, 7 candidates are contesting for the election of General Ward Number 1, in District Korangi UC 7 Model Colony, 12 candidates are in the race for the chairman position, and in District Korangi UC 6 Landhi, 8 candidates are competing for the vice-chairman position.

Security Arrangements

Security arrangements have been made for the by-elections in Karachi. Out of 167 polling stations, 136 have been declared highly sensitive, while 26 are considered sensitive. At sensitive polling stations, 8 to 12 police officers have been deployed.

Furthermore, the total number of voters in 10 local government constituencies is 295,491, with 157,617 male voters and 137,874 female voters.
