A fire broke out on Thursday in a multi-storey building, Rimpa Plaza, located on MA Jinnah Road in Karachi, marking the second blaze at the building in just two weeks. The fire started in a flat on the first floor of the building, which also houses various business offices.

Fire brigade sources reported that snorkels and multiple fire engines were immediately dispatched, and the fire was brought under control with the help of a fire tender. No casualties were reported in this latest incident.

This fire comes shortly after another blaze on December 3, when a fire had also started on the first floor before spreading to upper floors. The building was quickly evacuated, and no injuries were reported in that incident either.

Rimpa Plaza had previously faced a fire in May of last year, which started on the seventh floor in a spare parts warehouse. That fire was also contained with the assistance of a snorkel, and fortunately, no casualties occurred.

The repeated fires have raised concerns about the building’s fire safety measures. Following the recent incidents, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah urged the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to inspect high-rise buildings to ensure proper safety standards are in place and prevent future fires.
