RIYADH: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reached Saudi Arabia on a two-day visit to participate in the ‘One Water Summit’ in Riyadh.

Earlier, the prime minister on Tuesday left for a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia to represent Pakistan at the “One Water Summit.”

According to a press release from the PM Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was accompanied by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi.

The Summit, a joint initiative by Saudi Arabia, France, Kazakhstan, and the World Bank, aims to encourage global cooperation and a unified international approach to water resource management through high-level political commitments.

At the summit, the Prime Minister is set to deliver a keynote address, focusing on the restoration, preservation, and adaptation of freshwater resources and wetlands.

He will also discuss Pakistan’s efforts in promoting water conservation, enhancing climate resilience, improving water quality, supporting livelihoods, and conserving biodiversity.

Prime Minister Shehbaz will emphasize the need for international cooperation to address the impacts of climate-induced floods, extreme weather conditions, and heat stress on water resources and ecosystems.

Additionally, he will call for effective global collaboration for sustainable water resource management.

On the sidelines of the summit, the prime minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings and other engagements.
