Karachi is expected to witness warmer days ahead as temperatures set to rise slightly from Monday or Tuesday with mercury likely to go up to 26°C to 28°C during the day and dropping to a minimum of 11°C to 13°C, the weather analysts said on Sunday.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted the weather is likely to remain cold and dry during the next 24 hours.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 9.8°C today, with temperatures expected to rise slightly to 9°C–11°C on Sunday. Humidity is currently at 41%, and winds from the northeast are blowing at 11 km/h.

On January 21, the PMD issued a drought alert, warning of worsening conditions due to below-average rainfall and increasing temperatures. From September 1, 2024, to January 15, 2025, Pakistan experienced 40% less rainfall than normal, with Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab being the worst-affected provinces, recording rainfall deficits of 52%, 45%, and 42%, respectively.

Rain-fed regions are particularly impacted, with mild drought conditions reported in several areas of Punjab, including Attock, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Islamabad is also experiencing mild drought conditions.
