Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of new domestic and international flights to enhance its operations. The airline will begin these services in January, utilizing Boeing 777 and Airbus 320 aircraft.

Starting January 20, PIA will operate two weekly flights on the Sialkot-Bahrain route, followed by a weekly flight from Lahore to Kuwait on January 25. Additionally, two weekly flights will connect Lahore and Dammam from January 22, while a weekly flight between Faisalabad and Jeddah will commence on January 20.

The national carrier will also introduce a weekly flight between Peshawar and Karachi beginning January 25, and weekly flights between Sialkot and Doha starting January 21.

On December 30, 2024, PIA’s Acting CEO, Khurram Mushtaq, shared plans to reintegrate several grounded aircraft into the fleet. Over the next six months, PIA intends to activate additional Boeing 777 and Airbus 320 aircraft, increasing the operational fleet to 24.

Currently, out of the 34 aircraft in PIA’s fleet, only 19 are operational. This follows the recent activation of three aircraft, including a Boeing 777, Airbus 320, and one ATR, after concerted efforts by the national carrier’s team.

The CEO also confirmed that Boeing 777 aircraft will be deployed for operations in European countries and expressed ambitions to activate all 34 aircraft by the end of the year to boost revenue significantly.

In addition, PIA has approved a 25% salary increase for its employees. Last year, the airline expanded its operations fleet with two additional aircraft.
