President Zardari extends Chinese New Year greetings to Xi Jinping

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday extended warm greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping on the occasion of the Chinese New Year and Spring Festival. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to its “iron-clad friendship” with China.

In a letter to President Xi, Zardari expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral ties further and explore new avenues of cooperation during discussions in Beijing. He emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering support for the One China Policy, highlighting it as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

President Zardari praised the enduring partnership between Pakistan and China, calling it a unique and strategic relationship fostered by the consistent efforts of both nations’ leadership. He commended President Xi’s visionary leadership in advancing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and enhancing bilateral relations.

The president acknowledged China’s remarkable progress over the past year and expressed hope for the continued prosperity and development of the Chinese people. He also wished President Xi good health and success in the coming year.

Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival, starting January 29 this year, is a festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar which marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring.
