PTI-govt talks: Fourth round scheduled for Jan 28
The federal government has announced that the fourth round of negotiations between its representatives and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) negotiation committees will be held on January 28, with key matters under review.
Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah revealed that a sub-committee has been established to assess PTI’s Charter of Demands (CoD) and formulate an official response. “We will present our position on PTI’s demands in the next round of talks,” he stated.
Addressing PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar’s seven-day ultimatum to form a judicial commission, Sanaullah remarked, “PTI can make their demands, but we will not issue a written response to them.”
The government team, along with allied parties, convened in the National Assembly Speaker’s chamber to deliberate on PTI’s demands. The meeting witnessed resistance to the formation of a judicial commission to probe the events of May 9 riots.
Government committee spokesperson Senator Irfan Siddiqui said that the government has yet to finalize its stance on PTI’s demands. “The dialogue process will continue, and we remain optimistic about progress,” he added.
