The Sikh organization “Sikhs for Justice” (SFJ) has written a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, congratulating Pakistan on its selection to the United Nations Security Council.

According to the letter, Pakistan’s selection to the Security Council reflects its commitment to global peace efforts. SFJ leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun praised Pakistan’s dedication to international peace, justice, and the principles enshrined in the UN Charter.

The letter also commended Pakistan’s reaffirmation of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, as outlined in the 1948 UN Security Council resolution.

Pannun called it a timely and commendable statement that reinforces the international community’s moral and legal obligation to support oppressed people in their quest for freedom and justice.

SFJ urged Pakistan to consider supporting the Sikh community’s struggle for self-determination, similar to its stance on Kashmir. The letter highlighted SFJ’s ongoing global referendum to establish an independent Sikh homeland, Khalistan, in India’s Punjab region.

Pannun expressed confidence that Pakistan’s leadership in the Security Council could pave the way for constructive dialogue and meaningful resolutions. He further added that Pakistan’s support for the Sikh movement through the referendum would strengthen its position on Kashmir and promote regional peace and justice.
