Theatre Training Workshop for students and professionals concludes at PNCA

Islamabad: The three-day Theatre Training Workshop for students and professionals wrapped up at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Thursday, leaving participants equipped with valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in performing arts. The workshop, which saw the enrollment of 35 students, was moderated by renowned theatre expert and PNCA Program Organizer, Muhammad Waqar Azim.

The opening ceremony was addressed by PNCA Director General, Muhammad Ayoub Jamali, who welcomed the participants and reiterated the council’s commitment to promoting theatre and the arts in Pakistan. He highlighted that PNCA would continue organizing such workshops to nurture artistic talent.

On the first day, the workshop covered the evolution of theatre globally, its history in Pakistan, and the social importance of drama. The sessions also included universal acting principles and techniques to enhance emotional expression and performance.

The second day focused on body language and its impact on character development, along with voice modulation techniques, both with and without microphones. Participants also explored various theatrical approaches like realism, symbolism, and abstract drama to stimulate their creative and imaginative abilities.

The final day of the workshop delved into the technical aspects of theatre, including lighting, set design, sound effects, musical effects, and costume selection. Prominent playwright Aslam Mughal and Rafiq Essani, Director of Bhitai Arts Council, shared their experiences with the participants. The workshop concluded with a short play on the issue of illegal migration, performed by the participants.

At the closing ceremony, PNCA Performing Arts Division Director Samiullah Baloch, senior actor and playwright Aslam Mughal, and Rafiq Essani distributed certificates, commending the participants for their enthusiasm and dedication to the craft.
