According to the provincial energy department, more than 1.6 million people have registered for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s free solar system initiative.

The scheme aims to provide solar power systems to 130,000 eligible individuals, with 65,000 beneficiaries in each of its two phases. Those registered under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) are eligible for the free solar systems.

Officials mentioned that consumers who use up to 100 electricity units per month will receive solar systems with a 50% subsidy. The estimated cost of each system is around PKR 200,000. The scrutiny process will commence once the registration period ends.
