A tragic case of honor killing has emerged from Jhelum, where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by her uncle.

According to the police, the suspect fled the scene after committing the crime, claiming it was in the name of “honor.”

A case has been registered against him based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father. The girl’s body was discovered on the road, bearing multiple gunshot wounds.

In a similar incident last year, two sisters in Vehari were murdered in the name of honor after marrying men of their choice. The family, disapproving of their free-will marriages, brought them back home following a decision made by a local panchayat.

According to the District Police Officer (DPO), the sisters were killed by their own father, brother, and uncle. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Machiwal police station.
