Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting in Quetta to assess the law and order situation in Balochistan amid a recent surge in terrorist incidents.

The discussions centered on counter-terrorism strategies and measures to sustain the province’s progress and stability.

Addressing the meeting, the prime minister strongly condemned the recent tragic event in Kalat, where 23 terrorists were eliminated, and 18 soldiers embraced martyrdom. He paid homage to the security personnel and courageous young individuals who sacrificed their lives for the country’s safety.

“Terrorists are the enemies of Balochistan’s peace, progress, and prosperity. They seek to deprive its people of happiness, education, and employment,” stated PM Shehbaz.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to Balochistan’s development, he emphasized that terrorist attacks would not weaken their resolve.

“The journey of Balochistan’s progress will not stop. We are actively working to enhance healthcare, education, and job opportunities for the youth,” he said. “Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the entire country will be transformed into regions of peace. The development of Balochistan and KP is essential for Pakistan’s progress.”

Highlighting recent government initiatives, the prime minister pointed to special quotas for Balochistan’s students in international educational programs, including scholarships in China. He also praised projects like the Youth Program and the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme for empowering students in the province. Additionally, he mentioned the solarisation of agricultural tube wells to support farmers.

PM Shehbaz stressed the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Gwadar Port in positioning Pakistan as a hub for regional connectivity.

“CPEC development is moving forward swiftly. Gwadar Airport has started flight operations, and Gwadar Port will be pivotal in Pakistan’s economic growth,” he stated, urging unity over political rivalries.

“This is not the time for political divisions. Right now, our nation faces a serious challenge, and we must confront it together with solidarity. Once peace is established, we can engage in politics,” he remarked. “Due to past mistakes, our brave soldiers are facing immense hardships. National unity is more crucial now than ever before.”

The prime minister commended the efforts of the military and security forces for their unwavering dedication to maintaining peace in Balochistan.

“You are the pride of our nation. The entire country, including myself, stands with you and your families, who embody a spirit of sacrifice,” he told the injured personnel, acknowledging the renewed wave of terrorism in Pakistan.

He further assured that the wounded soldiers were receiving the best medical treatment.

In his closing remarks, the prime minister reiterated the need for national unity to counter terrorism.

“This is not the time for divisions or political conflicts. We must face this challenge with determination and stand together. Once peace is restored, our political landscape will flourish, and Pakistan will emerge as a strong nation,” he concluded.
