The Punjab Education Department has announced the start date for the 2025-26 academic year.

The annual exams for the 2024-25 session will begin on March 10 across over 42,000 government schools in Punjab, with more than 6.5 million students expected to appear. These exams will conclude on March 20.

Education authorities plan to announce the results in the last week of March, with the new academic session starting on April 1.

Additionally, the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PTBB) has revised the exam format for two matriculation subjects, effective from the 2025 academic year. The total marks for Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies have been increased to 100 each, instead of the previous 50 marks per subject.

Islamic Studies will now have a 100-mark exam in ninth grade, while Pakistan Studies will have a 100-mark exam in matriculation. The PTBB has already published new textbooks according to the updated syllabus and initiated the printing process.
