The federal government has decided to release salaries and pensions to its employees on March 27 in view of the upcoming Eid ul Fitr, which is expected to fall on either March 31 or April 1.

According to a notification issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Finance has directed the Controller General of Accounts to ensure that all federal employees receive their salaries before the end of the month.

Similarly, pensioners will also be paid their monthly pension on the same date.

The decision comes as part of the government’s efforts to facilitate employees and pensioners ahead of Eid celebrations, as financial institutions will remain closed during the extended holiday period.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has indicated that the Shawwal moon is likely to be sighted on March 30, making March 31 the probable date for Eid ul Fitr. However, the final announcement will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
