Karachi: The investigation into the weapon recovered from the possession of the arrested suspect, Armaghan, in the Mustafa Amir murder case will be conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).

According to investigative sources, the CTD will also probe how the prohibited weapon came into Armaghan’s possession. Additionally, suspects previously arrested for involvement in the smuggling of prohibited weapons will also be questioned.

A U.S.-made sniper gun, an MP gun, and an Israeli-made rifle were recovered during a raid at suspect Armaghan’s house, as per reports. The suspect was recovered with a rifle, an MP gun, a sniper gun, and more than 2,700 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Earlier, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) CIA Muqaddas Haider, in a press conference on February 14, revealed that the victim, Mustafa Amir, had gone missing from the Defense area on January 6. His mother had filed a missing person report the next day.

Through joint efforts by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC), the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), and a federal intelligence agency, the suspect’s friend, Shiraz, was arrested.

During a court hearing in the Mustafa Amir murder case, suspect Shiraz confessed to the murder, stating that Mustafa was fatally beaten at Armaghan’s house during a fight. His body was later transported to Hub, Balochistan. The Anti-Terrorism Court had granted Shiraz’s police remand until February 21.

DNA samples from a carpet at the crime scene matched Mustafa Amir’s mother, confirming the murder location. Karachi police had earlier exhumed Mustafa’s body, initially buried on January 16, to collect DNA evidence.
