Islamabad: The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) held a painting competition on March 26, 2025, at the Pakistan Museum of Ethnology to pay tribute to the heroes of the Jaffar Express train tragedy. The event provided university and college students from the twin cities with a platform to showcase their creativity while expressing solidarity with the victims.

Young artists depicted themes of bravery, unity, and resilience through their artwork, capturing the spirit of national pride. Lok Virsa’s Executive Director, Muzaffar Ali Burki, emphasized the power of art in honoring national heroes and promoting cultural harmony.

To appreciate the participants’ efforts, cash prizes and certificates were awarded to outstanding artists. The second phase of the competition is planned for after the Eid holidays.

This initiative highlights Lok Virsa’s dedication to preserving cultural heritage and using artistic expression to address modern challenges while fostering community engagement.
