Federal minister for power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari has inaugurated Pakistan’s first fast electric vehicle (EV) charging station in the federal capital.

Speaking at an event in Islamabad today, the Minister emphasized that electric vehicles (EVs) are the future of Pakistan and that the government is committed to promoting green energy.

He announced a reduction in EV charging costs, lowering the rate from Rs71 to Rs39 per unit. He also assured that further reductions in electricity tariffs are expected, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif set to announce relief measures for power consumers soon.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif pledged a relief package in electricity prices, stating that the government has decided to transfer the financial benefits of fluctuations in global oil prices to electricity consumers.

He emphasized that a package is currently being prepared, with details being finalized, and will be announced in the coming weeks. The Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing public relief and ensuring that lower global oil prices translate into reduced electricity tariffs.
