All banks in Pakistan will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, May 1, 2025, in observance of Labor Day. This was confirmed through an official notification issued by the State Bank of Pakistan.

The bank holiday aligns with the federal government’s announcement of Labor Day as a public holiday, which is celebrated every year to recognize and honor the hard work and contributions of workers across the country.

The State Bank of Pakistan confirmed that it, along with all commercial banks, microfinance institutions, and development financial institutions, will remain closed for public dealing on Thursday. Regular banking operations will resume on Friday, May 2, 2025.

Labor Day, also known as International Workers’ Day, is celebrated around the world to honor the efforts and struggles of workers for their rights, such as fair wages, safe working conditions, and reasonable working hours. In Pakistan, the day is observed with rallies, seminars, and public gatherings organized by labor unions and workers’ organizations.

These events are held to spread awareness about workers’ rights and to keep pushing for better working conditions across the country.
