Good News: Govt announces big relief in electricity bills

Government is likely to abolish the PTV fee charged in electricity bills.

According to sources, the government has decided to end the Rs 35 monthly PTV fee included in electricity bills. The final announcement will be made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Currently, there are around 40 million electricity consumers across the country. Every month, about Rs 1.5 billion is collected from consumers under the PTV fee, amounting to nearly Rs 16 billion annually.

This relief will benefit domestic, commercial, and all other categories of electricity consumers.
