Tehran: During a session of the Iranian Parliament, lawmakers raised chants of “Pakistan tashakor, tashakor” (Thank you, Pakistan) to show gratitude for Pakistan’s support amid the ongoing Iran-Israel tensions.

The chants broke out when Iran’s newly elected President, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, praised Pakistan’s moral and diplomatic backing. While addressing Parliament, he highlighted the importance of Pakistan’s solidarity in defending Iran’s sovereignty and called it a valuable gesture.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also strongly criticized Israel’s attacks on civilian areas. He urged the Iranian people to stay united and alert in the face of external threats. Lawmakers paid tribute to Iranian commanders, security forces, and nuclear scientists who lost their lives in Israeli strikes.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had spoken to President Pezeshkian over the phone and condemned Israel’s aggression. PM Shehbaz reaffirmed that Pakistan stands in full solidarity with Iran.

Pakistan also raised the issue at the international level. At the United Nations, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Munir Akram, told the Security Council that Israel’s attacks were a clear violation of the UN Charter and Iran’s sovereignty. He stressed that Iran has every right to defend itself under international law.
