ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has finalized the seniority of Islamabad High Court judges, official notification issued by Ministry of Law and Justice.

According to the notification, Justice Sarfraz Dogar will be the senior judge of the Islamabad High Court. In addition, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani is second, while the seniority of other judges has also been made clear. Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq, Justice Arbab Tahir, Justice Saman Rafat, Justice Khadim Soomro, Justice Azam Khan, Justice Muhammad Asif, and Justice Inam Amin Minhas.

As per notification, Justice Sarfraz Dogar, Justice Khadim Soomro and Justice Mohammad Asif have been declared permanent judges of the Islamabad High Court. It is to be remembered that on June 19, a constitutional bench of the Supreme Court rejected the petition against the judges’ transfer in the Judges Transfer case, and the case was decided by a majority of 2-3.

Following the verdict, five judges of the Islamabad High Court had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on February 20, after which the appointment process has been completed.

Following the President’s decision, a clear situation has now been established in the Islamabad High Court regarding the seniority of the judges.
