Washington: General Michael Erik Kurilla, the head of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), has emphasized Pakistan’s importance as a close ally in the fight against terrorism and warned that countries like India must not damage relations with such a key partner.

Speaking before the US Senate Armed Services Committee, General Kurilla highlighted Pakistan’s critical role in combating terrorism and praised its intelligence-sharing efforts. He stated that Pakistan remains a central ally of the United States, and the partnership has directly contributed to major successes against terror networks, especially ISIS-Khorasan.

Kurilla admitted that several ISIS-K terrorists were killed based on Pakistani intelligence. He also revealed that five high-value ISIS-K suspects were captured thanks to cooperation from Pakistan. These operations included the arrest of the mastermind behind the deadly Abbey Gate bombing at Kabul Airport.

He stressed that Pakistan’s active and effective contributions in counter-terrorism efforts are now being recognized globally. The CENTCOM commander noted that ISIS-K is currently one of the most dangerous terror groups operating, particularly along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

In conclusion, General Kurilla reaffirmed that Pakistan’s role in ensuring regional and global security is vital and that no country, including India, should undermine this strategic relationship.
