Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar issued a clarification on his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that his recent comments regarding Dr. Aafia Siddiqui were taken out of context.

He clarified that he mentioned Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s case while responding to a question about the PTI founder’s legal matters, and it wasn’t a separate or direct comment.

Ishaq Dar emphasized that during PML-N governments, efforts have consistently been made to support Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s release, including providing diplomatic and legal assistance.

He reaffirmed that these efforts will continue until the matter is resolved. He also stressed that every country has its own legal and judicial procedures, whether it’s Pakistan or the United States, and those processes must be respected.

Dar concluded by saying that the government’s position on Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s case is clear, firm, and unchanged.
