Pakistan has deployed AI-powered machines that can print up to 300 passports per hour, providing much-needed relief to thousands of citizens awaiting passport deliveries.

Director General of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Kazi, stated that the department has fully integrated six cutting-edge machines—procured in March 2025—with NADRA’s central database. He explained that these AI-powered systems will significantly reduce delays, boost daily output, and streamline the entire passport issuance process.

“These machines will significantly reduce waiting times and improve service delivery,” said Kazi, calling the development a leap forward for Pakistan’s passport infrastructure.

In another progressive step, Pakistan has added the mother’s name to its passports to align with international documentation standards and improve accuracy in global identification systems.

Meanwhile, the federal government has launched strict actions against individuals deported for unlawful activities abroad. Authorities have begun canceling their passports and registering criminal cases. The decision follows repeated complaints from Middle Eastern countries regarding begging and illegal migration by Pakistani nationals.
