The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood warning from July 21, in response to rising water levels in the province’s eastern rivers and the potential for flooding.

A spokesperson for the PDMA has warned that flooding may begin in rivers starting from July 21.

Commissioners in cities like Lahore, Sahiwal, Multan, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, and Faisalabad, along with Deputy Commissioners in districts including Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Attock, Gujrat, Sargodha, Khushab, Jhang, and others, have been told to stay on high alert.

Rescue 1122 has been instructed to prepare in advance, and other related departments like local government and irrigation authorities have also been placed on alert.

PDMA Director General Irfan Kathia has asked all relevant administrative bodies to make complete arrangements according to the Chief Minister’s orders. Emergency control rooms and disaster response teams of Rescue 1122 must stay ready, keep enough petrol and diesel available, and make sure the public is kept informed.
