Sugar Prices Hits Record High of Rs. 200 Per Kg in Pakistan

A big rise in sugar prices has been seen across the country, with rates crossing Rs. 200 per kg in some cities for the first time ever.

The latest data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) shows that the average sugar price in the country has now reached Rs. 188.44 per kg. The data shows that the average price has gone up by Rs. 3.52 per kg compared to last week, when it was Rs. 184.92 per kg.

According to PBS, in major cities like Karachi, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, sugar prices have hit as high as Rs. 200 per kg.

The data also shows that sugar prices have gone up not only week by week but also compared to last year. A year ago, the average price was Rs. 145.88 per kg, which means there has been an increase of Rs. 42.56 per kg over the year.
