Karachi: Today marks 58th death anniversary of Madar-e-Millat, Fatima Jinnah, a revered leader and pioneer in Pakistan’s history.

Born on July 31, 1893, in Karachi, Fatima Jinnah was the younger sister of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. She was a steadfast supporter of her brother’s vision and played an instrumental role in the struggle for Pakistan’s independence.

Fatima Jinnah was not only a dedicated politician and a symbol of unity for the nation but also made history as the first female dentist in undivided India, earning her dental degree from the University of Calcutta in 1923.

Her unwavering commitment to the cause of Pakistan and her efforts to empower women and unite the people remain an inspiration. Today, her legacy continues to be celebrated and remembered across the country.

Fatima Jinnah is called Madar-e-Millat or Mother of the Nation for her role in the Freedom Movement.

After the independence of Pakistan, she co-founded the Pakistan Women’s Association which played an integral role in the settlement of women migrants in the newly emerged state of Pakistan.

Fatima died on this day in 1967 and was laid to rest next to her brother at the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi.
